Designing the Future is an exciting new program for high school students that will expose them to emerging design concepts that have been successfully implemented by well know companies like Ford, Nike, Herman Miller and others. The lively film/discussion guide format is based on the award winning video, produced by Earthome Productions and narrated by Susan Sarandon, The Next Industrial Revolution. The program is simple to implement by just showing the 55-minute film, facilitating a dialogue using the discussion guide and have students complete a simple response sheet.

The film introduces students to the original design work of architect William McDonough and chemist Michael Braungart. McDonough and Braungart work with corporations like Ford and Nike to redesign buildings, manufacturing processes, and products to work according in alignment with nature's design principles.

The goal of the program is to inform high school students about nature-based concepts like 'Waste Equals Food', 'Live on Current Solar Income' and 'Respect Diversity'. We believe Designing the Future will motivate students to think about how they can apply these principles in their daily lives as well as stimulate them to imagine a future where these concepts will be incorporated into the community and business sectors.

Of course this program needs the community to help launch it successfully into the high schools across the country. Interested in helping?
